When it comes to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), one of the most frequently asked questions is “how long does SEO take to see results?”. With each client having different products/services with different rankings and keywords, it’s hard to put an exact number on this.
However, a recent study carried out by SEO expert, Neil Patel provides valuable insights into this question. Take a look at their study findings below after looking at over 40,000 domains currently investing in SEO:
- In the first 6 months, they saw an increase in organic search traffic by 11.4%.
- In the second 6 months, they saw an increase of 9.58% over the first 6 months.
- And in the second year, they saw an increase of 49.4% on average over the 1st year.
- In year 3 they saw an increase of 30.7% over year 2.
- And in year 4 they saw additional growth of 13.5%.
The study discovered 5 common traits in these SEO strategies, and in this blog we discuss them all.
Trait 1: They are keeping their content up to date.
We all know we need to create new content to rank highly on Google, but it’s important that this content is relevant and fresh too! This study found that individuals are much more likely to read the latest, up-to-date content rather than old news they probably already know a lot about.
Trait 2: Brand building
Another key trend which the study found is that these sites are using a number of different marketing channels, including social, email and paid ads, to help create a strong brand. Building a brand is great for improving SEO results as search engines tend to rank brands more highly. This is because they know they are likely to create more reliable information.
Trait 3: Trends
Neil Patel also discovered that 138 sites were performing especially well in terms of organic traffic. They later discovered that this was due to them hopping on news trends to increase their search traffic. Staying on top of trends can be difficult in this fast-paced world, but it is critical if you want to improve your traffic.
Trait 4: Quick load times
This study found that the faster the load times, the higher the search traffic. The top performing sites had a load time of 4.93 seconds on mobile, in comparison to the average site which had 6.35 seconds on mobile. Remember – every second counts!
Trait 5: Big TAM (total addressable market).
They also discovered that the bigger your TAM, the more potential traffic you can receive. Essentially, this means that the more people interested in your products/services, it is more likely that people will visit your website. This is why the larger sites tend to go after big markets that appeal to a large audience.
Conclusion
