Collaborating Communities Online for Climate Change

Each and every day we are working towards a more environmentally friendly future. When it comes to building communities across the world, there is no better solution than the power of online. At Brace, we are proud to work with C40 on their latest City Solutions Platform website to spread this message.

C40 pave the way towards a healthier and more sustainable future by bringing together 94 cities across the globe, over 700 million citizens, along with world leaders in politics and business. Their ethos is to collaborate effectively, share knowledge and drive meaningful, measurable and sustainable action on climate change.

With over 89k followers on Twitter, 31k followers on Facebook, 22k on LinkedIn and 20k on Instagram, C40’s reach is impressive. Led by Michael R Bloomberg, President of the Board, the Steering Committee for C40 includes the likes of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti and Governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike. C40’s aim is to build a network within multiple sectors and call on governments for support in creating a sustainable future.

Brace were first approached by C40 to deliver a bespoke communication platform to enable global communities to collaborate on environmental projects. It set out to support over 150 staff members to work together and share solutions and methods throughout the site.

A true team project, Emma White, shares how Brace Creative Agency fulfilled C40’s needs. “When we received the brief, our client wanted a bespoke communication platform tailored to their organisation.  After reviewing the brief and undertaking some research, I presented my findings and recommended a few industry-leading communication platforms that could be fully integrated. There are hundreds of widely used and tested platforms that can be fully integrated into your website. It’s just finding the right one!”

“Once my findings were presented internally, C40 decided to use solved.fi who have worked with many environmental and sustainable organisations across the globe from Finland to Estonia and San Diego. Brace designed and built a bespoke CMS website that fully integrated with Solved.fi. Solved provided C40 with a custom platform where cities can open their own projects, invite stakeholders around the world and source experts on-demand from Solved’s existing expert pool. It’s been a fantastic project to be part of. The team at C40 are a pleasure to work with – I hope the overall solution works well for them.”

Collaboratively designed by Amanda Spearman and Ryan Simmonds then built by Matt Dobson, the launch of the website was very timely ahead of the C40 World Mayors Summit in Copenhagen. The summit in October will showcase how cities have already made positive changes for the climate.

Their mantra is “the future we want is possible”, and Brace actively adhere to being environmentally friendly for a better future.

“The team at Brace and myself are really excited about being asked to get involved in this project with C40 and it’s fantastic to be working with a great global organisation,” says Director Mitchell Bracey. “We really care about the environment and the entire team take environmental issues seriously, from everyday recycling to reducing energy usage and adopting a carbon-neutral quest all makes a difference. If the whole world does the same, small changes count towards global change. Out of the box thinking is needed and this environmental platform is one of these, C40 should be proud.”

With a wide global reach and a great platform to raise awareness of a world-wide issue, the City Solutions Platform produced by Brace fulfilled the task in hand and built a strong relationship with such an influential campaign. Following the launch of the website, Manager for Business and Innovation at C40, Olivia Bedworth, said: “We look forward to seeing how both the website and platform will scale the efforts of the programme to support more cities in finding innovative and replicable solutions to their urgent climate challenges.”
